August 3, 1939 - April 17, 2014 The family sadly announces the passing of John Florek on April 17, 2014 at Irene Thomas Hospice Residence, Delta. He is survived by his wife, Claudia; sons, Tim and Corin (Kathleen); daughter, Charlene (Hamish); as well as grandchildren, Ethan, Jonathon, Rebecca and Madelyn. No Service at his request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Delta Hospice Society or BC Cancer Agency in his name.


Lindy KASPERSKI

October 29, 1950 - April 18, 2014 It is with overwhelming sorrow we announce the sudden death of our beloved father and grandfather Lindy on Friday, April 18, 2014. Left to grieve are his children, Dan, Jay (Sharon) and grandson Oliver and their mother Barbara; his parents, Mike and Sheila; sisters, Diane, Janet, Susan and their families; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends. Lindy dedicated numerous hours volunteering in his community. He served for many years on the Northwest Sports association assisting with programming, fundraising, and coaching. Lindy also canvassed on behalf of many causes including the Cancer Society, the Lung Association, CNIB and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to name a few. He was also a founding member of The Open Door Society of Regina. In the early 70ís Lindy worked with the Department of Culture and Youth and was involved in bringing the Multicultural Festival here. In the last ten years he helped by providing both his time and shelter to street cats in Regina. Lindy had an astounding intellect and was extremely knowledgeable due to his lifelong pursuit of learning. He shared his deep love and passion for history and Polish heritage with all who knew him. Lindy devoted a great amount of time to research his family background and through doing so met family in Poland. During this research Lindy met and made a great friend, his cousin Piotr Krysiak of whom Lindy was very fond and kept in contact with. He had a deep attachment to the St Anthony's Polish Community and the Polonia and Poltava dance groups. Lindy served as MLA for eight years representing Regina Sherwood Constituency. During this time he was chair of caucus and always willing to assist constituents with their problems. He took great pride and worked endless hours representing and serving the people in his constituency. ALLIE MACDONALD

Allie passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her husband Cliff Lewis; her parents; and her four bothers. Allie is survived by her two children; Kerry (Margaret) and Todd (Leslie); her two grandchildren, Sasha and Ryan; her three sisters, Ella Johnson, Leta Goodwin and Doris Collins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Allie was born in Kipling SK and later moved to Regina. She attended Normal School and taught in Lipton before returning to Regina to work at Government Telephones, where she met and married her first husband Grant Macdonald. Allie went on to become a realtor and eventually opened up her own real estate company - Associated Realty. After her divorce, she met and then married Cliff Lewis, who unfortunately passed away only a couple years after their marriage due to complications from a kidney transplant. Allie continued to live and work in Regina operating a number of different businesses until finally retiring. She will be sorrowfully missed by those who knew and loved her. Her family would like to thank all of the staff at Extendicare Parkside, north wing for all of the care and support they provided Allie during her stay and the staff of the General Hospital Renal Unit. Cornelis MARKUS

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Cornelis (Casey) Markus on April 17, 2014 at the age of 66. He was predeceased by his father, Cornelis Markus, his brother, Hank Markus, and his sister, Marian Nuttall. He is survived by his mother, Trudy Markus of Kelowna, his loving wife Kathryn, his son Cornelis (Dawn) and daughter, April (Mark) and grandchildren, Mathew and Emily. He will be deeply cherished and missed by his loving family who were at his side when he passed. Casey spent his life pursuing a career in horticulture and greatly enjoyed growing anything and everything he could. He and Kathryn had been residents of Govan, SK since October 1998. Jocelyn MCINTYRE

1930 - 2014 Violet Jocelyn McIntyre was born on August 28, 1930 in Regina to Jack and Violet Lucas. Jo passed away at home at the age of 83, on Monday, April 21, 2014, having enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday with the family the day before. She is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Rand (Glenys), Rich (Bernadette) and Gord (Cheryl); grandchildren Lindsay (Graham Werstiuk) of Edmonton, Brandon (Robyn), Lisa and Shawn; great-grandchildren Julia and Keira Werstiuk; sister Phyllis (Mac) McDougall of Campbell River, BC; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from across Canada. Jo was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years Stuart 'Ike' in August 2013; her parents; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Don and Jacquie and Gordon and Marjorie McIntyre. Jo grew up in Regina and attended Central Collegiate and Balfour Tech. After high school she worked in the office at Imperial Oil. She and Ike were married on April 4, 1953 and she assisted with the growth of the family business - Kemsol Products, until the family expanded to three active boys, who kept Jo very busy. She was very involved with the community, teaching sign language for many years, volunteering at the Plains Health Centre with the library cart and she delivered meals-on-wheels to those in need. Jo served on many committees at Knox-Metropolitan United Church and the MacKenzie Art Gallery. She was an active member of the Kinette Club of Regina, the Shrine Bacchus Club, the Knox-Metropolitan Food and Fun Club, the Triple Links Sovereign Grand Lodge Independent Order of Odd Fellows and various Bridge Clubs. Jo was very musical and was an award winning member of the Sweet Adelines. She travelled throughout North America competing in world class events. Jo particularly enjoyed singing in a quartet with Jan Reinson, Birdie Prosofski and Dorothy Payne. They performed at many venues and celebrations throughout Regina. Jo and Ike enjoyed travelling, their time at the cottage at Buena Vista and good times with family and friends. Jo was dedicated to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always connected via email and never missed an occasion with a card, a gift and a call. Jo was a classy, warm, friendly Mother, Mother-in-law, Sister, Grandma, Aunt and Friend. She will be missed. A Celebration of Jo's Life will be held at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MacKenzie Art Gallery, 3475 Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4S 6X6 or the charity of one's choice.
